Vice Principal, 2 Teachers, Guard Arrested As Students, Residents Clash In Ogbomoso

Four staff members of Areago Community High School, Ogbomoso in Oyo State, have been arrested due to a conflict between students of the school and residents around the community.
The four staff of the school, among them the Vice Principal Administration, Mr. Ajayi, two senior teachers, Mr. Oladeji and Mr. Adekunle, and a day security guard in the school, were arrested. Those arrested were being detained at Owode Divisional Police Station, Ogbomoso.
It was gathered that trouble started on Thursday following an altercation between some students of the school and some women residents in the neighborhood who attempted to pass through the school premises on commercial motorcycles.
The residents were prevented by the students because the parent-teacher association (PTA) of the school had started on the erection of a perimeter fence.
A teacher in the school who spoke on the plea for anonymity disclosed that construction of the fence became imperative because the school has become porous. He added that a lot of untoward things are daily recorded in the school as a result of the porosity of the school.
It was gathered that the four staff would be released on bail.
It was gathered that the concerned stakeholders are making efforts to settle the matter amicably.
