Nollywood actress Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama is excited to have been included to play in an American science feature series titled Star Trek: Discovery.

The Nigerian-born talented actress plays a major role as ‘The Progenitor’ in the 10th episode of the fifth season titled ‘Life, Itself’ in the movie adventure drama by Paramount+.

Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama, who found it difficult to hide her joy over this recent achievement, shared the news with her loved ones and fans on Instagram.

The actress, who had earlier studied biochemistry during her undergraduate days, revealed her experience through the audition process for the show.

“Guess who and guess where… It’s yours truly on the set of @startrekonpplus as ‘The Progenitor’. Interesting fact: I auditioned for this show for a good minute. Finally got a cool role then,” she wrote in her post.

She’s also very popular for her major goal as one of the surviving doctors doing the Nigeria ebola crisis in a popular biopic 93 Days.

Her outstanding performance in the movie secured her a lot of appreciation from viewers, including earning the ELOY award for best actress of the year, the AMVCA Trailblazer Award, and the Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting.

In addition to a success story, the actress gained popularity for a role as Yemisi Disu in a romantic comedy movie, The Wedding Party, released in 2016 and directed by Kemi Adetiba, and its sequel, The Wedding Party 2 (2017), directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.
